This first new Dodge muscle car/SUV crossover in over a decade brings a thunderous engine, outstanding technology, athletic performance, and even the green efficiency of an available hybrid powertrain to the table. Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2023 Dodge Hornet is available in four trim levels: two gasoline and two hybrids. The gas engine trim levels are the GT and GT Plus. The hybrid trim levels are the R/T and the R/T Plus. Several add-on packages give you additional sleek exterior touches. The Blacktop package adds black-painted wheels and slick black exterior trim elements. The Track pack gives you bigger 20-inch black wheels and red brake calipers. Exterior colors include 8 Ball Black, Gray Cray, Blue Steele, Blu Bayou, Hot Tamale, and Acapulco Gold.
Engine (Power)
The 2023 Dodge Hornet is available in two powertrains. The first is a gas-powered engine on the two GT trim levels. This one is a 2.0-liter displacement turbo inline four-cylinder Hurricane4 engine. It generates 268 horsepower with 295 pound-feet of torque. It's mated to a standard nine-speed automatic transmission. The R/T trim levels get a hybrid version of the inline-four, which adds an electric motor and a 15.5-kilowatt-hour battery pack. The hybrid powertrain delivers a combined 288 horsepower. Hybrid models, however, are only hitting showrooms this summer as a late arrival to the model.
Performance
In real-world testing by Car and Driver, the turbo 2.0-liter inline-four engine managed an impressive zero to 60 sprint in just 6.5 seconds. The hybrid powertrain is expected to do even better with its improved horsepower. The KONI Frequency Selective Dampening, or FSD, suspension system makes the new Hornet outstanding at absorbing bumps and jars on the road. Body roll is minimal, thanks to the available dual-stage valve suspension. The Track Pack kicks it up even further with a sport steering wheel and adjustable suspension dampers to improve handling or ride comfort.
Interior
The 2023 Hornet offers solid storage space with 27 cubic feet for luggage and gear behind the back seats and more with the seats folded flat. The cockpit is sleek and futuristic, with all controls intuitive to use and within easy reach. Features start with dual-zone automatic climate control, full smartphone integration for both your Apple and Android devices and a huge 10.25-inch touchscreen interface for the Uconnect infotainment system. Additional features include a remote start, power-adjustable heated and cooled front seats, wireless device charging, and premium 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound.
Safety Features
The base GT trim level gives you adaptive cruise control to keep a safe distance from other vehicles on the road as well as blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic warnings to watch in places you can't see. The base level also includes a front crash warning and emergency braking system to mitigate accident severity, and you'll get lane keeping to help keep you centered if you start to drift. The GT Plus trim includes integrated GPS navigation. With the Tech Pack, you can add enhanced adaptive cruise control, lane centering, front parking sensors, and a full top-down surround-view camera system.
