The Dodge Challenger is your classic muscle car with a retro look and massive straight-line speed. The lineup of engines offers impressive horsepower, with each one more powerful than the last. The 2023 model marks the last year of the current generation Challenger, and it arrives with commemorative plaques and the return of some of the car's most popular colors from past years. Here's a quick overview of some of the features you can get with the 2023 Dodge Challenger.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level Challenger is the SXT. It comes with 18-inch wheels, keyless entry, automatic halogen headlights, and a rear spoiler. The GT builds on this with projector fog lights, performance brakes, and a performance suspension. Step up to the R/T for 20-inch wheels and a stainless steel performance exhaust or to the R/T Scat Pack for Brembo brakes and upgraded engine cooling. The SRT Hellcat and Hellcat Widebody have wider performance tires and a dual-snorkel hood, while the SRT Hellcat Redeye adds Redeye badging. The SRT Super Stock has 18-inch wheels and Nitto drag radial tires.
Engine (Power)
The Challenger's base engine is a 3.6-liter V-6 with 303 horsepower. The R/T gets a 5.7-liter V-8 that puts out 372 horsepower, and the R/T Scat Pack bumps up to a 6.4-liter V-8 that churns out 485 horsepower. Power for the SRT Hellcat comes from a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 with 717 horsepower, and the Redeye upgrades this engine to develop 797 horsepower. The Super Stock is the most powerful, with the supercharged V-8 tuned to make 807 horsepower.
Performance
The V-6 engine is an excellent choice for everyday driving, but the V-8 engines provide the Challenger with a satisfying surge of power and the low growl to go with it. Depending on the model, you can get the Challenger with a manual or automatic transmission. This muscle car is at its best when testing power going straight on the highway, but its suspension also does an excellent job of keeping the ride smooth over most roads.
Interior
There's room for five people in the Challenger, and the seats stay comfortable even on long road trips. The trunk is spacious, with over 16 cubic feet of storage space. Cloth upholstery comes in the SXT, along with a power-adjustable driver's seat. Leather upholstery is available as an option, and you can also get heated and ventilated front seats. A 7-inch touchscreen sits in the dash, housing Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Other tech features include a six-speaker stereo, an 8.4-inch touchscreen in the R/T Scat Pack and above, and an upgraded stereo system. The Plus Package for the SXT adds a power-adjustable and heated steering wheel, driver's seat memory functions, and Nappa leather-covered front sport seats.
Safety Features
Standard safety features for the 2023 Dodge Challenger include a rearview camera, airbags, traction control, stability control, and hill start assist. The optional Technology Group adds forward collision warning with automatic braking, automatic high-beam headlights, and adaptive cruise control. You can also add the Driver Convenience Package for a blind-spot warning system, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and rear cross-traffic alert.
